A Special Reception with Dr. Liisa Kauppinen on April 15
On Tuesday, April 15, there will be a reception for the women of the RIT and Rochester communities with the Deaf, United Nations Humanitarian Award Winner, Dr. Liisa Kauppinen. This event will be held in the Dyer Art Gallery at LBJ Hall from 7:00 to 9:30 PM. Click here to register for the event.
Dr. Liisa Kauppinen was born deaf and is fluent in Finnish Sign Language, Swedish Sign Language, English and American Sign Language, in addition to International Sign. She was executive director to the Finnish Association of the Deaf, the first female president of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), and is a WFD consultant for the United Nations and its special agencies. She is internationally known for promoting deaf people in legislation, their status in society, and sign language.
