Women in Science Luncheon

Dr. Rachel Levy (Associate Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College, https://www.math.hmc.edu/~levy/) will speak at a WISe Luncheon, the third of a series of luncheons supported by an RITAdvance Connect grant.
Rachel Levy taught middle and high school and worked in educational media and instructional design before entering a PhD program in Applied Mathematics and becoming a professor at Harvey Mudd College. In addition to her research work in fluid mechanics, Rachel is the incoming VP for Education for the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, the outgoing Editor in Chief of SIAM Undergraduate Research Online and a 2013 recipient of the MAA’s Alder teaching award. She has two ongoing NSF-funded mathematics education research projects, one on flipped classrooms and one on mathematical modeling in the K-6 curriculum. She created the blog Grandma got STEM ( http://ggstem.wordpress.com) and enjoys sharing ideas about all kinds of communication.
