WISe Holiday Luncheon with Dr. Lynn Maquat

Women in Science will hold their annual WISe Holiday Luncheon, featuring prominent guest speaker Dr. Lynne Maquat, on Friday December 5! Dr. Maquat is the J. Lowell Orbison Endowed Chair and Professor of Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Maquat is the founding director of the UR Center for RNA Biology: From Genome to Therapeutics, the 2014 William C. Rose Award winner from the American Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, the 2014 Rochester Business Alliance Women’s Council Athena Award Winner, and Chair of the Graduate Women in Science program at the U of Rochester. In 2011, she received one of science’s highest honors when she was elected to the National Academy of Sciences for her pioneering work on nonsense-mediated mRNA decay and human RNA metabolism. At the luncheon, Dr. Maquat will speak to “Success in Science: Scientific Smarts Aren’t Enough.”
