12:30 - 3:00 PM

The CRLT Players are visiting RIT with their acclaimed production of Navigating Departmental Politics. A touring theatre company housed in the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching at the University of Michigan, the Players create research-based performances that examine current issues in higher education. Using a range of innovative theatrical techniques, the Players’ performances engage faculty, graduate students, and university administrators in critical reflection, respectful dialogue, and problem solving. This session is by invitation only; specifically for RIT leadership (academic deans, associate deans, chairs/unit heads).
Faculty participants have said:
•“[Navigating Departmental Politics] will make me more thoughtful of how I approach and think about these sorts of situations.”
•“It was interesting to see multiple views on the same situation …. it was helpful to understand that reactions to a particular situation within a department meeting often originate in back-stories that may be invisible to us, as observer/participants in the same meeting.”
This event is sponsored by the NSF AdvanceRIT project. More information about the CRLT Theatre Program can be found at www.crlt.umich.edu/crltplayers.
